Bobby Jindal (R) – 2012

Ironically, I’m probably the last person who would support an Indian-American in a presidential race, but after the 2008 outcome, the Republican party has been left in shambles. Our reputation has been tainted with a lackluster image of failed policies as the ever-so-liberal Capitol Hill and White House continue to scare me with their future plans. Even though the 2008 presidential election basically came down to a popularity contest, it’s disturbing how many individuals (and no offense, but mainly those of African-American descent) voted for Obama for extraneous reasons. They supported McCain’s views, but picked Obama because he’s… well… who knows why?
This post isn’t about Obama or McCain. It’s about the revival of the Republican party. The GOP is desperately in need of a candidate who is:
- A minority
- A strong Christian (in this case, Catholic)
- Youthful
- A “good speaker” by the traditional definition
Governor Bobby Jindal (R) of India… errr…. Louisiana is a brilliant, vibrant, and promising choice for the GOP ticket in the 2012 presidential race. Assuming Mr. Obama, our beloved “candidate for change”…. our “proponent for science”… our “rock-star politician” doesn’t continue disappointing this country on his own, the American people will have a very tough decision to make in 2012.
What do you think about Governor Bobby Jindal as a possible candidate in 2012?

An angry child?!
No at all. It takes much more than that to make me mad.
It is not my fault John hijacks your account and “deletes” your friends. I just wondered what happened, like any “friend” would. You will be a great Senator, Fyfy, or whatever you decide to do. And I have a new topic also, Rishi. Flatterers, those people that suck-up to you to join your personal inner circle and to get all in your business.

Haha, I’ll have posts regarding both suggestions soon.
Stay tuned.

It’s nice to be reminded how creative people’s threats can be over the Internet. Then again, they’re only threats.

I think Bobby Jindal is a GREAT candidate for 2012. Actually about 70% of Republican I know, yes I do have Republican friends, said he is the only candidate that has the greatest chance of running against Obama. I think Jindal knows that and he seem to be indicating he wants to run in 2012

Fyfy, whose side are you on? First you love Obama and have him as a profile pic in your Facebook, and was glad that he ordered attacks on terrorist camps in Pakistan. Then, when Rishi, Rizwana, and I said it was too soon to attack, you changed your mind and said you were disappointed at Obama for attacking Pakistan. Now, you seem to want to become Republican?! You change your mind too often! Lol. Now, I understand Brad erased me from Facebook for me not being conservative, what was your excuse? I know I am no saint, but I also know I have done no wrong. I have always been nice to you. And yes! Jindal is pretty cool. He should run.

Yes I am becoming more Republican, but I still consider myself a conservative democrat. I do think Obama is doing to soon. I am not far left as I used to be, damn commie. You seem to be an angry child Oscar. Rishi I got a new topic for you. Men who misinterpret body languages and assume that you like them when you are being nice.

Oh, when you get to medical school, wait till you join AMSA (American Medical Student Association) and AMA.
http://www.bcm.edu/osa/bsa/?PMID=4234
you will get Universal Healthcare up the wazoo. I’ve never seen a group like AMSA that is so against their own interests, by wanting to institute ANOTHER government healthcare program besides Medicare and Medicaid that already reimburse only 33 cents for every dollar of health care services, thus lowering even further every physician’s salaries.

Also if you think the shouts of Obama being a “Muslim”, an “Arab”, a “terrorist”, and so forth were loud enough, wait till Jindal runs, to where rumors of him get started of him “converting to Catholicism, but being a secret Muslim/Arab”, and his exorcism of a friend in college and “curing” her of her cancer start spinning in the blogosphere. Sadly, but practically speaking, the GOP can not afford to lose the South by putting up a minority. Democrats can, as they weren’t going to win the South anyways.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to sound like I was mad. It’s just that the GOP has gotten SO FAR off track from its message. That’s the REAL reason they lost.
With respect to Palin – when she was asked a SIMPLE question about which Supreme Court cases she supports – she could not even name the case that affected HER OWN STATE – The Exxon Valdez court case!! That isn’t a nuance by any means. Much of what she said was ridiculous but she was given a pass bc she was a woman – like saying “Thanks but No Thanks” to the Bridge to Nowhere, until we found out that in fact SHE WAS FOR that Bridge and ended up keeping the money and spending it on other projects just not the bridge. Much of the SNL skits were taken VERBATIM from her interviews and didn’t even need to be changed they were so messed up – Like her response to Katie Couric about the bailout – just watch it on Youtube.
One last thing, from a medical standpoint she started talking about how Drosophila research is wasteful not realizing that it’s being used for autism research: http://blogs.discovery.com/news_interior_design/2008/10/palins-advocate.html
And I haven’t even scratched the surface of her. If the GOP really wants to lose in 2012, Jindal/Palin is their best bet.

“THIS IS THE BIG ONE, HE IS A MINORITY. This is remove the stereotype that Democrats is the party for the minority and Republican is only for white rich folks since the minority this time is running as a Republican. I am so sick and tired of liberals saying that Republican are racist. Don’t they know that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. Don’t they know that the majority of the House was Republican under Kennedy and Johnson when the civil right act was pass and democrat went out of there way to stop the bill from passing while republican want the bill to pass. I am glad if this man is running it will remove the stereotype that small minded liberals suggesting that only rich white folks are Republican”
It’s hilarious to me when conservatives think that calling someone a “lib-ruhl” is an epithet. It’s why they’re at the bottom of the political trashheap. Are you kidding me that he was voted in because he was a “minority”. If that’s the case why didn’t blacks in full vote for Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, or Carol Moseley Braun? Oh yeah, it’s because they weren’t actual VIABLE candidates. Obama’s FIRST WIN wasn’t with blacks, it was with WHITE EVANGELICALS in Iowa. How many black people do you know live in Iowa? Remember, Hillary was supposed to be the “inevitable” candidate, remember?
The GOP is no longer the party of Lincoln. First, a DEMOCRATIC president signed the Civil Rights Act. All the Southern racist Democrats then got so mad they left the Democrat party and joined to become today’s modern day Republicans. Perfect examples: Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms – who were the ANTITHESIS to civil rights. I’m sorry to tell you but Republicans are racist. Do you know what the Southern Strategy is? Look it up. The GOP has used it for decades. Chip Saltsman couldn’t help himself . “Satire” or not, politically he should have thought a little harder. Even LBJ when he signed the Civil Rights Act – said “There goes the South”. Don’t you think it has more than to do with race, when the GOP could only win ONE battleground (Missouri) and that was by 3,000 votes?
The GOP shouting “socialism” when Bush is the one nationalizing banks and don’t mind corporate welfare is laughable.

Just what the GOP needs another right wing extremist candidate who thinks that women should be left to die from ectopic pregnancies. Yes he is anti-choice and against abortion in ALL circumstances, even when a mother’s life is in danger. Try telling that to a woman with 3 kids and husband who has an ectopic that she should die.
“It’s disturbing how many individuals (and no offense, but mainly those of African-American descent) voted for Obama for extraneous reasons. They supported McCain’s views, but picked Obama because he’s… well… who knows why?”
Are you serious? If you need this explained to you I really don’t know what to say. Sorry but most African Americans DON’T support McCain’s views. If 8 years of Bush’s policies has not shown you why Obama was supported I really don’t know what to say. McCain’s ideas in EVERY way were a rehashing of Bush’s policies – EXCEPT on the issue of the environment (global warming specifically). You truly think that African Americans would have voted for the GOP if their candidate was black? Not likely. Just ask Ken Blackwell in his race for governor of Ohio (he got less than 20% of the black vote). Not to mention recently Chip Saltsman didn’t help his case with his distribution of the already released song by Rush Limbaugh, “Barack the Magic Negro”.
For you to say that, is just as stupid of me to say that as an Indian your support of Bobby Jindal is because you two are of the same race.

As far I am saying I know a guy from Kenya who said he voted for John McCain. He go to HBU I might add. His name is Bernard. If you ask him why he say it because of certain issue such businesses, health care, and etc.
I am no racist since I am a minority. I am Asian and many of my people said the voted foe Obama because they want change. This is ridiculous since when you ask people what the change is they don’t know. They are anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, and some even believe in the Patriot Act. So why are they voting for Obama when they share McCain view? Simple they want to be a part of history in the making.
My dad is a democrat and I shared many democratic views growing up, but then I realize having government controlling health care and big business is not a good thing. I just think socialism does not work well. History will tell you this. Just look at Russia.

His status as a minority being a big deal is disturbing.
1) The original post seemed to imply that it was disgraceful that people voted for Obama due to his race.
2) I think a big thing Republicans miss on this is that yeah, it’s good politically that he’s a minority, but it also reinforces the idea that Republicans pull these stunts just to get votes. Whether it’s true or not, there’s a lot of people who hold that view. And they have Palin to point to… We can all admit she was a poor choice for VP and it’s easy to say she was picked simply for being a woman.
And then, come 2012, here’s an Indian-American running for President. Yep, just another Republican stunt to get votes.
Unfortunately, racism is not dead, and it likely never will be. For that reason, race will inevitably influence people’s votes. However, I think that it is despicable to list as one of a candidates qualities: “He’s a minority”.
I agree, Bobby Jindal is a great candidate for Republican President in 2012, IMO the best to have gained wide-spread popularity so far. I agree that there’s a lot of great things you can say about him. But c’mon, it only reinforces such stereotypes about Republicans to say that he’s a good candidate because he’s a minority.

I don’t think it’s disgraceful people voted for Obama due to his race. I think it’s disgraceful that people say voted for Obama because of the “issues”, when in reality, their understanding is horribly wrong. I hate how everyone has a “politically correct” reason for supporting their candidate. Just let the public know why you voted, whether it’s something as trivial as his ethnicity or physical appearance or as complex as his ACTUAL view on the issues.
As far as Palin, we could debate day and night whether she was a “good” pick, but the way the media portrayed her was completely wrong. How would you expect a state governor to remember nit-picky facets of politics on a national scale? I don’t expect a neurosurgeon with thirty years of experience to remember every nuance about the kidney. Heck, I’m sure you could ask some senators and house members (people who work on the national level) some of the same questions the media asked her, and their answers would be mediocre at best. President Elect Obama, our commander-in-chief, has virtually no knowledge regarding national defense, yet I don’t hold this against him. Unfortunately, neither does the liberal media.
I do agree with you about racism’s prevalence. It’s human nature to “one-up” the next guy, and if that involves discriminating against his/her ethnicity or religion, then so be it.
At this point, Jindal happens to be a great candidate for the reasons we’ve discussed. Whether or not the GOP will exploit the fact that he’s a minority, devout Catholic, etc. are irrelevant, because in the end, it’s how they convince voters that counts.

WOW you got to it before I did I think this man is a GREAT candidate. First of all it fit a Presidential criteria. He is good looking for a Presidential candidate, yes we live in a shallow world and looks would get you ahead in life, and look is what cost McCain the election. He is a strong Christian which make him popular with the Evangelical voters of this country. Since he is Catholic he is probably going to steal some of the liberal Catholic voters, being a Catholic myself I also discovered that some Catholic voted for Obama.
THIS IS THE BIG ONE, HE IS A MINORITY.
