Posers Do It Better

I really have no idea why I’m writing about posers on Christmas Day, but there’s nothing else to do at this hour. I’m trying to get people’s input on whether or not the phrase “posers do it better” has any merit. For such an awkward phrase, there’s certainly a lot of thought that goes into supporting it.
I should define what a “poser” is for those who’ve never heard the term. A poser is, and I quote, “a person who habitually pretends to be something he is not.” Now given that explanation, I affirm the statement that posers do it better most of the time. Why? Because they’re educated in the manner at hand. Posers observe many individuals who naturally possess the trait they are trying to emulate. They painstakingly analyze every nuance which is characteristic of that person, studying how these details make them stand out in a crowd. Anyone who dedicates this much time towards impersonating someone else will probably be indistinguishable from the source. And while the phrase “often imitated, rarely duplicated” may be a universal truth to life, posers could care less about taking on a stereotype 100%. As long as they’re “close enough”, they’ve succeeded.
Mind you, most posers reach a point where they exaggerate some characteristic and end up invalidating their game. Heh, what a tragedy! Oh well, they’ll just find another group to imitate.
