True, a lot of Verizon Wireless' (VW) new phones have touch screens and some cool features; however, VW does an awfully good job at crippling their handsets by loading their cruddy utilities on it. The Blackberry devices and smartphones they offer all run on their own operating systems (Blackberry OS, Windows Mobile 6, etc.), so fortunately they're immune to VZ's phone-crippling-plague.

I myself purchased an LG Voyager last Christmas hoping that it would at least "rival" the iPhone. A few months later, I got an iPod Touch, and wow, there was a night/day interface difference. Assuming the iPod Touch really is an "iPhone without the phone", Apple can beat the socks off of any Verizon touch screen device to date... especially after the App Store's coming.

Fortunately for us VW users, the company is voicing its intent to deploy the upcoming LTE mobile communications technology starting in 2009. By the time all of their network is transitioned over, AT&T/Cingular should also be well on their way. Finally, the two largest wireless providers will share a network protocol, and that'll just increase competition. Let them compete, so we, the consumers, can be rewarded with better phones, more features, and better prices. :-)

OMG! Rishi..I think verizon actually has THE BEST options of phones! If you look at what tmbile offers vs. what Verizon offers, verizon has mostly touch screen, and boy do they have good ones! When the voyager came out, besides the iphone it was prob. one of the only other touch screens..and now..although i like the iphone, i LOVE the blackberry storm!

You're absolutely right man. Those Nokia "N-series" phones are something else (as are their price tags, lol). But being a T-Mobile user, you at least have the option to jailbreak/unlock an iPhone 3G for yourself. In my opinion, Verizon has the best network but the worst phones... ugh... hopefully 2009 will show some interesting "breakthroughs." If not, we might all have to wait for LTE (aka, "4G") networks to become mainstream.

I want an iPhone, but am still repulsed by the lack of QWERTY and camera. I recently got a Blackberry 8820, and it also doesn't have a camera! A near $500 phone without camera is ridiculous. I am still waiting on the next generation iphones to finally reach T-Mobile. I think it is absurd how America is so behind in quality cell phones compared to Europe and Japan. They have the best phones, most with 5 to 8 megapixel cameras. The FCC makes it hard on cool phones to be quickly available to the public. For example, Nokia still makes the best phones, and here, Nokia is made to look like a crappy cell maker. The Nokia N96 is better than Apple's iphone by a long shot.
