Chris Brown and Rihanna Situation

We’ve all heard about the Chris Brown and Rihanna altercation making entertainment news headlines, but if you ask me… who really cares? I have that mentality towards all cases involving celebrities, but this one in particular is just annoying. Maybe it’s just me, but even if Chris Brown, uh, “hurt” Rihanna even more, I don’t think his reputation as a musician should have to suffer.

Musicians should be evaluated based on their, yeah, you guessed it – their music! So for those who are thinking: “Rishi, how could you not feel bad for Rihanna?” I do feel bad for the physical damage she endured, but I have no remorse for how exaggerated the media is making the case out to be. It’s true that Rihanna isn’t responsible for the media’s coverage, but I’m just being biased. :-)

I’ve always had this thing against Rihanna. Her voice has awkward inflections and her “Rihanna hair cut” makes female fans look like men. Chris Brown, on the other hand, has it all – great dancing ability, the innocent persona, and a distinguishable voice. Regardless of whatever he does, he is still a valuable asset to the entertainment industry and has my respect.

Who is a better musical artist?

…because supporting Chris Brown is (now), in essence, supporting violence against women. Music doesn’t just happen. It is made by people… and supporting music made by people who have spent the past few months abusing his girlfriend is not okay in the general public’s book. Why give that person money? Why promote his fame?

Before this came out, I’ll be the first to admit that I absolutely loved both of them. I thought Chris Brown was adorable and an amazing artist. I love Rihanna, think she’s beautiful and almost always creates catchy/hit music… That’s how a lot of people felt. They were perfect! The young R&B/Pop Prince and Princess! Together! It’s always exciting when two extremely successful artists come together, because who knows what will happen (musically.. and who knows what else ie this situation!).

But now? I feel for her, because that must have been horrible. I, regretfully, will most likely never be able to enjoy a Chris Brown song again… becaue I’ll always be reminded of what he did. It’s just a fact that, for a lot of people, when a song comes on the radio… a picture of the artist comes to mind. And for me…. its an abuser of women! I’m not going to support that person.
