Facebook Groups for Lost/Stolen/Damaged Phones

Is anyone else even slightly perturbed by the number of Facebook groups dedicated to retrieving phone numbers? I’ll occasional browse random friends’ profiles and come across their “Groups” section. What do I find? “Help, *** ***** needs your phone number!” or “MY CELL PHONE WAS STOLEN! I need your number!” or “MY PHONE DROWNED, GIMME THOSE DIGITS!”

Why on earth do people think this is the best means to obtain the information they seek? Wouldn’t it be more prudent to send a message to the friends whose numbers you want rather than publicizing your inability to safeguard a phone? Sure, we all lose things, but come on… a Facebook group? Plus, half the people don’t want their numbers shown in public view to begin with, so they’ll end up private messaging you anyways!

An example of this practice

Maybe this is just one of my virtual pet peeves coming to the surface. :-D

In other news, last night’s Rockets game was great, and Soulja Boy’s “Kiss Me Thru The Phone” is one of the most ridiculous songs of the year.

Gee whiz, I haven’t been here in a while. Your common-sense and straightforwardness always welcomes me back though.

I’m with you on this issue. “Wouldn’t it be more prudent to send a message to the friends whose numbers you want rather than publicizing your inability to safeguard a phone?” Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Thanks Michelle! And more importantly, thanks for your last post. It’s been a while since I read something so hilarious yet down-to-earth. :-)
