Green Tea – To Your Health

Preventative medicine is an interesting topic to discuss especially when trying to reduce healthcare costs. At the same time, many people are trying to find cheap solutions to a.) lose weight, b.) get healthy, and c.) stay thin and healthy. Combined with an exercise regimen approved by a physician, green tea may be one of the best additions to your diet.

I look back on the days when my family used to own a coffee shop. Rather than indulging in the caffeine and sugar-saturated drinks, I preferred brewing green tea for myself. Its always been one of my favorite drinks (either hot or cold), and as time goes on, researchers continue to discover health benefits to my beverage of choice. :-)

Here’s a brief list of some of the benefits:

  • Increases basal metabolic rate (BMR) and helps burn fat
  • Reduces food intake
  • Amino acid theanine crosses the blood-brain barrier and reduces anxiety/stress
  • Antioxidants fight against cancers like leukemia
  • Reduces low-density lipoprotein (LDL, “bad cholesterol”) circulating in our arteries
  • Supports bone integrity thereby preventing osteoporosis

To think that an inexpensive, rather common drink has so many benefits may spur many to start consuming more of this natural remedy. I may have an idea for breakfast now… :-)
