Whether you’re a young child or a well-educated philosopher, you’ve most likely pondered the meaning of life before. But that’s not what this post is about. I want to talk less about some arbitrary meaning of life and focus on the typical lifestyle of the modern day. It’s frightening how repetitive and pointless we are […]
Why do we strive for noteworthy credentials when in reality, they rarely matter. We’re used to elections which come down to “popularity contests” and employment opportunities based on how “connected” someone is. So what about those hard-earned experiences? Why do we even bother fluffing up our vitas with activities, when another individual with virtually no […]
Posers Do It Better

I really have no idea why I’m writing about posers on Christmas Day, but there’s nothing else to do at this hour. I’m trying to get people’s input on whether or not the phrase “posers do it better” has any merit. For such an awkward phrase, there’s certainly a lot of thought that goes into […]
Have Yourself A Tropical Little Christmas

What a horrible Christmas for us in Houston! My mom and I were at one of the family businesses earlier today when it was raining, and I just stared outside the window recollecting the Christmas Eve a few years ago where we had snow! Mind you, I enjoyed the snow we received on December 10th […]
Jealousy – A Root Of Evil

“Peace of mind makes the body healthy, but jealousy is like a cancer” (Proverbs 14:30). Think about that. We’re all familiar with the emotional and medical pain associated with cancer. Now try equating that to something ALL of us are guilty of – the evil known as jealousy. Jealousy is marked by an uncharacteristic envy […]
A Note To Those Who Think “Life Sucks”
Published: 3 years, 1 month ago (Dec 22, 2008) in RandomTags: people · 10 Comments
It’s a phrase which we’ve all heard our friends say and may have said ourselves. The moment something goes awry, the immediate follow up is something along the lines of: “Ugh, I hate my life! Life sucks!” Even after I’ve finished my undergraduate studies, I still hear college students stating the aforementioned as if it’s […]
Grievances Against Drivers

Every week, I chauffeur my mother to our family businesses to pick up deposits, reports, and attend to some regular maintenance. The round trip from home to all our stores and back is roughly 100 miles. This gives me plenty of time to observe the driving tendencies of Houstonians, many of which have inspired me to write this post.
Wikipedia, aka “the website which will get me through medical school”, defines a pet peeve as something which meets the following criteria: The annoyance is “insignificant.” The annoyance is “experienced by all.” The annoyance is specific to “only you and a few others.”
“Merry Christmas” versus “Happy Holidays”
Published: 3 years, 1 month ago (Dec 9, 2008) in RandomTags: holiday · 7 Comments
To me, this is an absurd topic to debate; however, the fact that there are those out there who are offended by the phrase “Merry Christmas” has inspired me to seek the opinions of my readership on this issue. During this holiday time, is it improper to wish a stranger “Merry Christmas?” (by “stranger”, I […]
What Women Want vs. What Men Want

Okay, so this blog was basically written per the request of my readership. I’m not going to give any input except by providing comments. So let me know, when it comes down to qualities, both inside and out, what do both genders want?
