Status: I don't see why any #Droid 1 users will see the need to "upgrade" to a Droid 2. It's practically the same phone. (2 days ago)

Middle Schoolers

Published: February 22, 2009 at 10:07 pm in Random

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to speak on behalf of Alpha Epsilon Delta along with some of my peers from HBU at Citizen Schools’ Career Day. We spoke at two middle schools near HBU about our organization, college life, etc. After thoroughly enjoying my volunteer experiences at elementary schools during undergrad, I was shocked by how corrupt the next generation’s middle schoolers are.

Another Reason I’m Against Visiting India

Published: February 11, 2009 at 12:58 pm in Random

People are constantly amazed by how adament I am about not visiting my mother country of India. Why? Heh, too many reasons. For example, I’ve previously blogged about how Indian entertainment is shameful, but now I’ve read something which put me over the edge. Here’s the article from the Times Online website:

Sleep

Published: February 2, 2009 at 5:28 pm in Random

We’re all familiar with the snooze button on our alarms. You know… that button which grants us the opportunity to ignore the world for increments of 10 minutes at a time. The button we’ve all “accidentally” pressed and consequently arrived late to school or work. And in my case, the button which is totally ignored. :-)

I’m an insomniac. I just can’t seem to ever get a full night’s rest no matter what I do. Drinking milk before bedtime… nope. Exercising till my fingers hurt… doesn’t work. When I do happen to fall asleep, I can’t stay asleep. But I’ve found a “treatment” as of late.

Let’s say that I have to wake up at 7:00 AM. Most people would set their alarms around 6:00 AM depending on their morning routines (showering, eating, hitting the snooze button, etc. :-P ). Instead, I set my alarm to something like 4:30 AM. When the alarm rings, I roll out of bed (groggy as ever) and rather than hitting the snooze button, I reset the alarm for 6:30 AM. For some reason, the two hours of sleep I get between 4:30 and 6:30 AM are far superior to the 4-6 hours of sleep I might have had earlier in the night.

There’s probably a biochemical reason for this delayed gratification, but I’m too sleepy to look it up. ;-)

Is there anyone else *weird* out there who does this?

Life

Published: January 27, 2009 at 8:33 pm in Random

Whether you’re a young child or a well-educated philosopher, you’ve most likely pondered the meaning of life before. But that’s not what this post is about. I want to talk less about some arbitrary meaning of life and focus on the typical lifestyle of the modern day. It’s frightening how repetitive and pointless we are in this perspective.

Are Credentials Overrated?

Published: January 11, 2009 at 9:30 pm in Random

Why do we strive for noteworthy credentials when in reality, they rarely matter. We’re used to elections which come down to “popularity contests” and employment opportunities based on how “connected” someone is. So what about those hard-earned experiences? Why do we even bother fluffing up our vitas with activities, when another individual with virtually no qualifications has just as much of a chance to “win” by some other means?
