Why I Hate Indian Entertainment

Some of the reasons I hate Indian entertainment: 1.) Within a movie or serial, you’re likely to hear two songs which are supposedly different but have the exact same background. After all, Indians do like to cut costs whenever possible.
Billy Mays

Who else thinks Billy Mays is beyond human? One second you see him advertising a revolutionary cleaning product (OxiClean), and then a super epoxy compound (Mighty Putty), and now the Big City Slider burger preparation contraption. He could probably set a world record for selling pet rocks if he wanted to share his secret with […]

The following is an e-mail sent from a good friend of mine to his undergraduate professors. He is currently a first year medical student (MS1) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston. In the e-mail, he describes his experience with Hurricane Ike. Enjoy!
Women and Politics

So I was thinking (uh oh), why is one of the leading criticisms posed by Democrats to Sarah Palin indirectly the fact that she’s a woman? Heck, even the public questions what’s going to happen to her family if she becomes Vice President. According to the latest polls, more men have been turned to vote […]
To Rubberneckers, With Love

This is for the rubbernecker. The individual who we can count on to always make the irrational decision. The gifted member of society who voluntarily goes out of his/her way to make the rest of our lives miserable. The person whose fascination with other people’s business will likely get them into an accident of their […]
I’ve always been an avid believer of a single person being capable of intelligence, but people (aka, the masses) being pools of ignorance. A perfect example was reported about two hours ago in north India. How can 150 people be killed in a temple stampede? Let’s just say the panicky nature of the masses knows […]
Cell Phones and Cancer

Think about how often you or your friends use their cell phones. Taking a quick look at my mom’s call history, she was on her cell for an average of two hours a day for the month of July. All that radiation… sheesh. Cancer and other associated brain disorders are an obvious certainty for her. […]
The Minority Excuse

I’m going to get in trouble for saying this, but through the medical school application process, I’ve realized that having a minority status seems to be an unfair advantage. It’s as if “minority” is synonymous with “disadvantaged” these days. For someone of South Asian decent, I can hardly call myself a minority in the medical […]
Diem’s Photography

Thanks to a few individuals I met in college, I’ve developed a new found appreciation for the creativity and diligence involved with photography. Growing up with my point-and-shoot film cameras and then eventually digital cameras really didn’t inspire any sort of interest in photography. On top of that, hearing people say “look at the lightning… […]
Sleeping In The Rain

Hurricane Dolly is chewing up Brownsville, but there’s a gentle downpour outside of my room in Richmond, Texas. I know I’m not the only individual out there who enjoys taking a nap in the rain, but after analyzing why we have such a habit, I’ve come to no educated conclusion.
