I’m so glad it’s finally December. People are cheerful for no apparent reason, random acts of kindness are seen all over the place, and most importantly, we get to reflect on the past year. As a testament to the holiday spirit, I allowed several cars to get ahead of me while waiting in traffic. Yes, that was the extent of my generosity today, but hey… it’s only the first day of December. Imagine what I’ll do tomorrow! This whole “nice” thing is going to take a while to sink in.
I don’t know about you, but the anticipation for this Black Friday was blown way out of proportion. The deals weren’t nearly as good as last year, and a lot of stores were relatively empty after the early morning doorbuster rush. Unfortunately, a Long Island Wal-Mart store employee died due to the incoming stampede (three other individuals were injured).
I’m having all these nostalgic moments as of late. My latest one involves an event which took place at the end of every year in elementary school – field day! For those of you who never shared in this memorable tradition, field day basically pitted each elementary “class” against one another in a series of athletic events (50 yard dash, bean bag toss, etc.) The winning class would earn the respect of their peers and reap the benefits of eternal glory (eh, not really the latter). In particular, I recall my second grade field day above all others.
It must have taken a true genius to devise heels. In his/her infinite wisdom, a decision was reached: the best way to leave a lasting impression on the fashion industry is to sentence people’s feet (and knees, and lower back, and spine) to death. This is a random topic that I just need to vent about, so without further ado, let the venting begin.
I’ve decided to depart with my old layout, a theme based on the original Hemingway design, since virtually no development is going into it anymore. Instead, I’ve jumped on the mainstream bandwagon and started recoding the K2 framework to suit my needs. This also works out great since the new version of WordPress (2.7) should be released very, very soon.
