Hey I have been searching around and came upon your old article regarding hd4890 and dual screens. I’d appreciate any advice when you have some time. Cheers
I have an interesting thought. Perhaps one day, surgeons and other physicians can get consent from patients to post procedures on YouTube. Other doctors-in-training can watch these videos over and over before they perform their first. See 100 first, then do one and teach one. This could improve outcomes dramatically, especially during those early summer months of green interns.
I really like that idea – in fact, several videos are already on YouTube showcasing such surgeries (with patient consent, of course). MITIE in the Texas Medical Center has a particular training room set up with monitors which feed into the surgical field allowing trainees to watch procedures from the vantage point of the actual surgeon. It’s technology like this which will fuel the future of surgical training.
Hey Rishi! since u are a med student at BCM, what are your thoughts on the school increasing its programs in allied health to include say, physical/occupational therapy, nurse-midwifery, etc. to expand its academic wealth as well as monetary wealth?
Our current programs (medical, PA, graduate, etc.) are outstanding, and it seems the new president is focused on recruiting more physicians to expand BCM’s outreach. While exploring other programs may be an option in the future, I just don’t see it happening anytime soon unfortunately. Thanks for the comment, Bob!
During the basic sciences, I think I only bought two used books (< $100 today). The rest were available in PDF and/or online library formats. During clinical rotations, I’ve usually spent ~$30 per rotation on books. Thanks for the inquiry!
Rishi, I have been following your blog since the beginning and just want to say…IT’S GREAT! You are inspiring and entertaining and I always look forward to new posts. Keep up the good work!
Hey Rishi! I actually stumbled upon your blog last summer while I was getting ready to apply for medical schools and looking for some advice/insight into the whole medical school application process. I just wanted to say that your blog is simply incredible!!! I’ve been following ever since. Just want to give you a HUGE thank you for all your help! All your old posting about the application process and interviews were amazingly helpful. They definitely were a big asset when I went through the process last fall. Happy to say that I’m a proud member of the UT Southwestern Class of 2016 =) …but then again I haven’t heard back from BCM, so who knows… Maybe I’ll see you around BCM this fall if I hear back! Wish you all the best and keep up the incredible work!! Best of luck on Step 1 tomorrow! I’m sure you will knock it out of the park! Good luck!
I’m so glad you found those posts useful, Mohona! And congrats on that incredible accomplishment – UTSW is a fantastic institution. I really appreciate the comment!

when are you going to write a post on which team you prefer to win? We know you hate them both.

No need for a post – I hate both teams, but I hate Lebron more.
GO MAVS!
