I can’t believe the NBA hasn’t gotten rid of such a controversial referee by now.
I’m getting ready to watch Game 4 of the Nuggets/Lakers series tonight, and in the meantime, I’m reflecting on the NBA Playoffs this year. Does anyone else think that its been really aggressive? Sure, teams are taking their games up to the next level, but think about the number of technical fouls, flagrant fouls, and suspensions dished out by the referees over the last few weeks. I’ve never seen so many in one postseason.
I had a great time attending what will probably be the last HBU graduation I’ll see in light of beginning medical school this July. There’s a lot to say about the happiness felt by graduates on this day, but from my perspective, it was more a time of reflection. Seeing so many of my friends walk across the stage allowed me to recollect my fondest memories with them over my undergraduate career. It’s a bit disheartening to see the journey end as it comes full circle.
Tonight when the Rockets take on the Trail Blazers in Game 4, I’ll be watching the home bench looking for our single greatest cheerleader on his feet (despite his knee injury) - Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo. Read more
The Rockets just suffered a loss in Dallas as the Mavs took the last game of the regular season 95 to 84. Regardless, both teams will be entering this year’s playoffs, but the only question is which seed they will claim. This season was rather interesting, since most of the contenders for the western conference playoffs are relying on their last game tonight to solidify their position in the ladder.

For the last few seasons, it seems like the only thing Houston Rockets fans could count on was T-Mac missing significant portions of the season. Whether he injures his forefinger, his back, his knee, or some other appendage we haven’t even discovered yet, McGrady is the definition of a benchwarmer – unfortunately, a very expensive benchwarmer.
Since the Houston Rockets have been having trouble beating anyone as of late, I’m glad the much anticipated NBA All Star Weekend didn’t fail me as well. Would Jason Kapono three-peat his 3-point shootout title? What crazy dunk would Dwight Howard conjure up this year? And of course, my favorite – what implications would having Shaq and Kobe play together under Phil Jackson have for the Western All Stars (and the media, for that matter)?
The Lakers just snapped the Cavalier’s 23 home game winning streak in a 101-91 defeat. Neither LeBron James nor Kobe Bryant had a stellar performance, but this was still a highly anticipated game between the two super-stars. Arguably, Bryant and James are the two best players in the league, so naturally the question is – “which one is better?”
Congratulations to the Celtics on winning the 2008 NBA Championship! In this time of celebration, I’m still slightly perturbed by a reoccurring image. This unknown creature, a seamless cross between man and extraterrestrial, still leaves wary NBA fans in awe. Not by his aging talent nor his excessive sideline cheering, but by a physical appearance which simply does not conform to normal standards of… “humanity.” His alias has been widely accepted to be “Sam Cassell”, and though his alleged NBA contract with the Boston Celtics may simply be a hoax or something conjured up by virtue of his supernatural existence, I ask this of you ladies and gentlemen… WHAT IS HE?!
I – hate – the – Dallas – Mavericks. For all those people who thought the series would already be over… guess again. =). After emerging 2-0 from Dallas, Miami won three straight games at home due to Dwyane Wade’s ridiculous statistics, but now they’ve gotta win in Dallas. I’m currently watching Game 6, and Miami is down 12 to 26, so things are looking rather BAD, but hopefully they’ll improve soon. And what’s with Mark Cuban? You *know* that you’re living the high life when you can afford to write $250,000 checks for voluntarily choosing not to shut your mouth. Oh well, I guess he’s just being a passionate owner.
