Last Thursday, interim president Dr. William T. Butler had a town hall format conference where he addressed several concerns put forth by Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) students, namely the following: Read more
T-minus one month till the first day of orientation at Baylor Med. I’ve spent the last six months looking forward to it, but as my freedom gradually comes to its end, mixed feelings have set in. Despite all my preparation, I’m a bit skeptical as to how I’ll fair compared to my brilliant classmates. I know that I’ll be working harder than ever against a level of competition I have yet to face to achieve my goals this time around. Time will tell just how well I’ve polished myself as a learner, I suppose.

Just under three months left before Baylor College of Medicine’s mandatory orientation, and I’m beginning to feel a rush of denial overcoming me. This past year was supposed to be my “last hurrah” before beginning a journey with no foreseeable end. After so many months of waking up late, washing lots of dishes, reading exactly one book, playing Counter-Strike, and cheering on the Rockets (GET RED!!), I’ve come to a realization. Read more

Since I’ll be staying home in Houston for medical school, there’s no sense of urgency for “one last hurrah” before beginning my journey. Nevertheless, I’ll be vacationing in Hawaii this May and getting my feet wet with some notes from a current BCM MS1.
I’ve been out of school for ten months. Heh, the last time most of us could say that was back in our very early childhood. The funny thing is that I just realized it.
It seems that my graduation in May ’08 was only last month, and since then, I’ve remained productive with things outside of medicine. To think that I’ll be starting my journey at Baylor College of Medicine in less than five months is a bit of a shock, but I’m really looking forward to it!
A Dream Come True – Baylor College Of Medicine
Published: December 10, 2008 at 8:31 pm in Baylor MedGetting into Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) has been a dream since elementary school. I didn’t even know much about the school at the time, but was convinced that purchasing a “Baylor Bears” sports mug in an elementary fundraiser event showed my true “BCM pride.” Come to find out that I was sadly mistaken (haha, sorry for any of you Waco people), but the dream finally came true on the very cold, snowy Wednesday evening at 5:57 PM.

Baylor College of Medicine and Rice University Merger?
Published: October 30, 2008 at 4:11 pm in Baylor MedHas anyone heard about the possible merger between BCM, one of the only stand-alone medical schools in the country, and Rice University? Imagine that harmony in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. Private university + private medical school = lots of reputability and funding. Both institutions would benefit tremendously!
