Overall, I can sum up my opinion of last night’s debate in one sentence: It sucked. For a town hall format, the questions being asked were ridiculous. The candidates spent an overwhelming majority of the debate reiterating their platform’s views on a number of things. This was unnecessary, boring, and for McCain, a complete waste of time.
Governor Sarah Palin and Senator Joe Biden squared off last night in what could have been an even more anticipated event than the first presidential debate a week ago. Though both candidates did as they should have by speaking about their running-mate’s policies and ability to lead, Biden had the chips stacked in his favor going into the debate.
I can’t believe how many people are convinced that Obama won the first presidential debate of 2008. To top that, I’m even more surprised at the number who believe the debate was a draw. I’ll admit, both candidates did a decent job for what is essentially their warm-up debate; however, there are some things which undoubtedly put McCain out on top in my opinion.
