‘Twas The Night Before USMLE Step 1

Tomorrow I’ll be taking the most important exam of my life to date – the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) Step 1. I’ve spent countless hours reading and completed thousands of practice questions, yet there’s an underlying sense of eustress (see what I did there… using my behavioral science) which is undeniable. This test will encompass every aspect of basic medical science… from immunology to neurology… anatomy to pharmacology… and yes, even The Beetus, but I feel ready to battle the 322-question-monster.

Testing begins tomorrow at 8 AM at the same venue where I took my MCAT just over five years ago. My confirmation paper, photo IDs, and protein/granola bars are already packed in the car. Pretty crazy that an exam I take in 12 hours will, to a large extent, determine how I match to residency in one year. 😯

I can succeed.

  1. Hi Rishi,
I hope you feel your USMLE Step 1 exam went well! I’ll be anxious to hear what you thought of it. What Qbanks and other resources did you use to prepare?

    • Thanks Anna! I used UWorld’s Qbank and self-assessments, NBMEs #1 – #7, First Aid, BRS Physio, chapters 1-7 of Robbins, and GOLJAN! 🙂
