Dual Fellowship Match! Brigham and Women’s Hospital & Harvard Medical School

This afternoon while traveling home on the light rail, I received a notification on my smartwatch. An email notification which, for a brief moment, made me freeze. “Congratulations” was the subject line.

I have now officially accepted an offer to do dual fellowships in critical care and cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital & Harvard Medical School from July 2017 – June 2019. These will easily be the most challenging yet educational years of my professional career, but I’m genuinely looking forward to this new chapter in my development. Just have to get through another 15 months of residency. 😀

I want to thank all the programs I interviewed at for the sincere privilege of their consideration. My interview trail was incredibly humbling, and quite frankly, learning how each institution approached these diverse subspecialties only made my passion grow.

Finally, here are some posts which led me to this point in my training:

  1. Congratulations Rishi! You continue to inspire me with every blog post 🙂

Keep up the great work, and enjoy your training in the east! It might be a slight adjustment from Houston 😉

    • Appreciate the kind words, Prem! I’m really looking forward to learning how medicine is practiced elsewhere. And how to cheer on a non-Houston sports team. 😀

  2. Congratulations on your fellowship match!!! I just found your blog while I was asking google all type of questions about medicine residency. I will be reading a lot here for sure, thanks for documenting your journey.
Quick question, can you please recommend a good personal laptop for residency? thank you in advance.

    • Thanks so much!! Are you looking for Windows or Mac? If it’s just for residency and general purpose computing (web browsing, email, office suite, etc) and not super intense things (video/photo editing, gaming), I’d recommend the Apple MacBook or Dell XPS 13. 🙂

      • Thanks for the prompt reply, I was considering these two computers. I used the Dell xps 13 with the intel core i7 as my work laptop, I love it but it is way more expensive than the macbook. Will I get away with i5? I basically need a laptop that will support Cerner smoothly. Thank you!
