Today marks the 8th birthday of my site’s current domain name! My journey started back in the mid-2000s with rishi-kumar.com, originally hosted by Dot5Hosting. I transitioned to a Bluehost shared hosting account on September 18, 2008. Back then, I was blogging fairly regularly about politics, tech, and the medical school interview journey as an undergraduate student. At that time, my site was dubbed: “RK-home.”
Several months later, I acquired my rk.md domain on November 23, 2008 and changed my site’s name to reflect the new domain. Most recently, I left Bluehost for Siteground on June 13, 2015 and haven’t looked back since then! 🙂
RK.MD is currently running WordPress 4.7 release candidate with the following plugins:
- Akismet
- Arqam
- InstaNow
- iThemes Security Pro
- Jetpack by WordPress.com
- WP AMP
- WP Rocket
- Yoast SEO
Additionally, throughout the year, I’ve added/refined several aspects of the site and social media presence.
- AMP on RK.md
- FeedPress RSS feed
- RK.md Blog Facebook page
- RK.md /X/ URL shortener
- RK.md on Bloglovin’
I also left another hosting provider for SiteGround, and (to borrow your words) I haven’t looked back! Service is great, and site speed was instantly boosted upon transitioning over.
Great choice! No regrets whatsoever. 🙂
