32nd Birthday

As a 31 year old, I completed my adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship in Boston, won Fellow Of The Year, had to unfortunately part ways with the incredible classmates and mentors I met, and moved back home to Houston. I signed my first “real” job contract working in academic medicine and got situated back to living in the Houston Museum District.

600 feet above Auckland!

Just prior to my 32nd birthday, I received word that I passed my advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) boards making me a testamur and soon to be fully board in this discipline. After a 10 year vacation hiatus, I decided to go somewhere totally exotic and flew to New Zealand to celebrate my 32nd birthday. I’ve got a few more days here in Auckland before traveling to Sydney, Australia to round out this much needed get away. 🙂

As a 32 year old, I will begin my journey as a new attending in adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology and critical care medicine. I can’t wait to see what opportunities this coming year brings as a physician and educator! 🙂
