Christmas Eve 2013 – Just Another Day

This profession isn’t normal. You become oblivious to things which were once held dear. Weekends feel like regular work days. Evenings are spent still toiling away or trying to sleep whenever possible. Holidays have become more of a privilege than a guarantee.

A part of me is uplifted by seeing different units at the hospital partaking in the winter festivities with lights, Christmas trees, music, and winter treats, but today I was overcome with childhood nostalgia on my way out of the hospital when I saw some kids taking in the wonderful train set-up they have at Texas Children’s Hospital. So young, so care free… *sigh*, growing up is overrated.

Here’s a shout out to all the other healthcare providers who will be spending the holidays caring for others. 😀
