NBA Commissioner Bans Donald Sterling

Less than three months into his term, the NBA’s new commissioner has already voiced his passionate views on promoting the diversity of this wonderful league. By placing a life-long ban from NBA-related activities on Donald Sterling, the Los Angeles Clippers’ owner, for his racist remarks publicized over the last week, the commissioner really shows his zero tolerance policy towards such fiends.

Regardless of who you’re rooting for this NBA post-season, this action is something all should commend. For the naysayers who feel like Donald Sterling was simply exercising his first amendment rights, keep in mind that “freedom of speech” does not imply freedom from consequences OUTSIDE of the federal government. He is fully responsible for the words of his tongue and is deserving of this punishment.

Zero tolerance for racism. Employers everywhere, large or small, should follow suit.
