Finished With Week 1 Of VA Cardiothoracic Anesthesia

I’m finished with my first week of cardiothoracic anesthesiology at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, and its been wonderful! Compared to my last month at Texas Heart Institute, the VA usually does only 1-2 cardiothoracic cases each day giving me ample time to practice echocardiography and read about cardiac physiology. I’ve mainly done aortocoronary bypasses but also did a great transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) case!

I just finished my last weekend call shift I’ll ever have as a resident at the VA and am now preparing for an aortic valve replacement beginning tomorrow morning. Hoping for another great week! 🙂
