Finished With Week 1 Of VA Cardiothoracic Anesthesia

I finished my first week of cardiothoracic anesthesiology at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, and it’s been wonderful! Compared to my last month at Texas Heart Institute, the VA usually does only 1-2 cardiothoracic cases daily, giving me ample time to practice echocardiography and read about cardiac physiology. I’ve mainly done aortocoronary bypasses but also did a great transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) case!

I just finished my last weekend call shift I’ll ever have as a resident at the VA and am now preparing for an aortic valve replacement beginning tomorrow morning. Hoping for another great week! 🙂
