Hurricane Beryl

Earlier this week, southeast Texas, including the greater Houston area, was struck by Hurricane Beryl. For the first time since Hurricane Alicia in 1983, the eastern portion of a hurricane’s eyewall passed through the city, leaving over two million people without power, significant wind/water damage, and questions regarding the city’s infrastructure.

Without power or water for two days with concomitant heat advisories, I slept in my car and recharged portable batteries/water bottles at the hospital. Even at the time of this writing (five days after the hurricane), hundreds of thousands of people still don’t have electricity. ☹️

Here’s a video in the midst of Hurricane Beryl.

But by sunset, it’s like nothing even happened. 😳

And to think it’s only early July… I wonder what the rest of the hurricane season will hold for us. To all those affected, here’s hoping for a safe and speedy recovery!
