Baylor College of Medicine – Rice University Merger Update

I just received an e-mail containing a letter from Dr. Greenberg and Dr. Eddins-Folensbee from Baylor College of Medicine regarding the merger with Rice University. Though it doesn’t shed much light on the details, it’s good to know that progress is being made.

Dear Accepted Applicants,

We know that some of you may have heard about our recent discussions with Rice University concerning closer ties between our two institutions. Although these discussions are in their early stages, we are encouraged about our progress to date. We do not anticipate any changes in BCM’s tuition structure and/or admission policies. We will keep you informed as to progress in this exciting dialogue between our two outstanding academic institutions.

We continue to look forward to seeing you in July 2009.

All of a sudden… July 2009 doesn’t seem all that far. 🙂 I’m really excited to see what this merger does for BCM’s funding, ranking, and student life.

  1. I definitely think this will be a huge positive, especially in terms of student life for med students and research opportunities for Rice students. I’m definitely hoping we get free rec center access…I’m so bummed that I’m missing the brand new rec center opening at Rice by just one year!

BTW, I’m in your class next year at Baylor and just stumbled across your blog 🙂 Can’t wait for July, it’s so close!!!!
