The last few days have been filled with torrential downpours throughout much of Houston. Unfortunately, at least five lives were lost amidst the flooding. Freeways are under water. Bayous are still overwhelmed. And just when we think the clouds have parted, another afternoon rainfall proves otherwise.
Yesterday, in particular, was bad. Many hospital workers (surgeons, nurses, techs, housekeepers, etc) could not make it to work. My commute was relatively uneventful, but as soon as I arrived at the hospital, I knew it was going to be a horrible day. We were scrambling to prioritize cases based on our limited resources. Fortunately, we got through it and all our patients were safe.
Here’s hoping for some healing time for the city!
