Farewell Boston! Moving Back To Houston

I arrived in Boston on July 1, 2017, and in the two years since then, completed two fellowships in critical care medicine and adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology. I left Houston to learn a new way to practice medicine, and am now packing up to return back home to teach trainees and my colleagues what I’ve learned over the course of my training.

I remember when I moved to Boston, I took a week of vacation at the end of residency so movers could get my belongings up to Boston at least in the first week of July. I also had my car shipped so I would have some semblance of my life in Houston. My car got there late. My furniture got there even later. I hated it. I was on call my first weekend and preferred sleeping in the hospital rather than going home to sleep on an air mattress. I was home sick. I didn’t know anyone here. I got lost more times than I can remember. I didn’t want to venture out.

And then the city started to grow on me. My colleagues at work welcomed me with open arms. I explored this city’s wonderful history. I frolicked in the snow. I learned so much more about medicine, and in turn, becoming a more prolific educator. Boston, and specifically Back Bay, became home and will forever be a special place for me.

Here are some pictures of my apartment in Back Bay as things are packed up for the move!

Stay tuned a post about my new apartment in Houston! 🙂
