My iMac Pro’s 2017 components were beginning to show their age – especially in an era where Apple has nearly completed its transition to its “Apple silicon” optimized for macOS and a growing suite of applications. I decided to go with the Apple Mac Studio with upgraded hardware. I retained most of the peripherals from my previous build.
This time, the focus was on simplicity. The triple monitors were replaced with an ultrawide canvas. The Drobo DAS was replaced with a Synology NAS, which sits elsewhere and connects to the Mac with a CAT8 cable. Other peripherals (printer, Cloudlifter, external drives, etc.) were moved elsewhere.
